I’m back at Uni on Monday! This will be my third year. :’)

This year, I’m focusing on getting GREAT grades, not just mediocre grades. I want to focus on concentrating more in classes and during my free time so that I can achieve this goal. Naturally, I succeed if I have a plan or list written down, so that I can have the satisfaction of checking the task off when completed. Therefore, here is my proposed action plan for this semester:

1. Take notes in each lecture and add to them by watching the lecture recording again.

2. Make sure I understand the content of my readings and lectures each week so that I can actively participate in class discussions and arguments, especially in Legal Studies.

3. Continue adding to my folder of newspaper articles and online news articles for legal studies and education, so that when major essay time comes around, I’ll have plenty of references and examples to use.

4. Complete ALL readings in depth for ALL of my topics each week, and take good notes.

5. Be prepared for tutorials at least one day in advance. Have notes, arguments etc prepared so that it’s not one big massive rush five minutes before my seminar/workshop/tutorial.

6. Use my breaks efficiently instead of procrastinating on Tumblr or Twitter. I’m only going to bring my laptop on days that I will absolutely need a computer. I’m going to bring my notes, and my books to study and I’ll sit in an appropriate study environment, not the couches in the central part of the library.

7. Start research for essays and assignments at the beginning of the topic, and add to the research until it’s time to write the assignment. Then I won’t be wasting valuable time looking for appropriate sources!

8. Keep my iphone in my bag during lectures, workshops, seminars and tutorials. That way I will have no distractions and can divert my full concentration to the person speaking.

9. Write daily check-lists and ensure everything is checked off by bedtime that night.

10. Don’t leave things to the last minute!!!

11. Refer to this list when I’m lacking concentration!

Why put this effort in, you may ask? Because I want to be the best teacher that I am capable of being when I graduate from uni, and I believe that starts with good habits early on.
